Pemo's is a GREAT West Indian restaurant with BARGAIN prices. This is REAL "Home Style" cooking. Delicious and
plentiful is an understatement. The restaurant is very informal, spotlessly clean, and the service is great. With Dossie, (the proprietor) taking care of the cooking and reception you will swear that you are
at your Grand's for a Sunday meal! The atmosphere is quaint and very local, don't be surprised if you are the only non-Nevisian in the place. Pemo's is a place that I like to go for a
quiet lunch, or for dinner when I just don't feel like making a big to do about going out. Some local specialties include Goatwater (goat stew) which is a real treat, and curried chicken. You will also want
to see what the catch of the day is, if seafood is what you are craving. The prices are so low that I don't know how Dossie makes any money. A young lady that I met a few years ago, went with me for a light
lunch. I was shocked to see the bill. We each had a beer, fresh fish sandwich, and tossed green salad for the whopping price of $ 7.00 US! If you are looking for REAL West
Indian food at Bargain prices then you must give Pemo's a try. It is a bit hard to find, but worth the look. Pemo's is located about 1.5 miles East of Nisbet Plantation
heading towards Brick Kiln. It is a small white building on the North (Ocean) side of the road. PS try the Goatwater, it is very good even if it seems unusual. |
