When I first went to Nevis, I was told that I would be very bored as there was little to do in the evenings. This was
said to me by someone who obviously considers making love a chore. While you won't find a Glitzy American-Style disco, you will find some great music to keep you up till the wee hours. There are many styles
of music throughout the Caribbean and you will find most of them represented on Nevis. Whether you like Steel Drum, Dancehall, String Band, Ska, or my favorite Reggae, you will be able to enjoy these styles and more
while visiting Nevis. The trick to finding the "Hot Spots" in Nevis, is to keep your nose out of the guide book, and your ear to the ground. In this case, any of the
"local" pubs. Pull up a stool, and get involved in the local conversation. The Nevisian people are very friendly, and are quite often just as interested in you and your culture, as you are in
theirs. An offer to buy a Carib beer always helps to get the conversation rolling. As you begin to chat, let your new friend know, that you are interested in seeing some of the local party places. Before
long, I am sure you will find yourself having a wonderful time with new friends, in new places, that your guide book author never even bothered to check out. Another trick to finding all the
action is to realize that life is very relaxed and not so structured as many people are used to. Many establishments that have music one night won't have music the next night or even the next week. Some
places are only open on the weekend or maybe have music only on the last Friday of the month. It takes a bit of getting used to, but really that is where the charm lies. Every night is like a treasure hunt with a
new gem to be discovered. Keep your ears, eyes, and mind open and you will swear that you don't know how your going to fit in all the new places to go to in your schedule on your next trip to Nevis. |
